Scoutreach

scouting for everyone, everywhere

The Scoutreach program currently serves youth who reside in communities that lack a Scouting presence. Scoutreach is the BSA’s commitment to making sure that every child has access to a high-quality Scouting experience regardless of their circumstances, ethnic background, or location.

Our goal is to make Scouting accessible to as many children in our community as possible, helping to shape theirr lives to become well rounded, upstanding individuals in their communities and homes.

Our Program Fast Facts

  • Scoutreach serves over 600 youth each year
  • 6 Scouts BSA Scouts Achieved the Rank of Eagle
  • Over 200 Scouts had an outdoor camping experience in the Summer of 2023
  • 10 Scouts BSA attend the National Jamboree

Parents

Scouting will prepare your child to become a leader, accept responsibility, and care about principles and causes outside of their own self-interests. We accomplish this through servant leadership, citizenship, a well-defined program based on values, learning by doing, FUN, and positive role models.

Parent Testimonial

” For the last five years my 3 boys, Donald, Dorian, and David have been a part of the Laurel Highlands Council – Troop 710. They were first introduced through the after-school program they were attending – H.O.P.E. for Tomorrow, Inc., under the direction of Mrs. Keysha Gomez. While they were a bit hesitant in the beginning, they quickly warmed up to attending the weekly troop meetings. Through their involvement with the BSA, my boys have learned so much about life, survival, community service, trades, and entrepreneurial skills. My husband and I felt it important to keep them on this path, receiving and being introduced to opportunities that we were never afforded growing up.

I’m happy to say that our eldest son, Donald Reid III, in one of the busiest years of his life, was able to complete all of his badges and service requirements to be considered for Eagle Scout-one of the highest rankings a Scout can achieve. He’s now enrolled at Penn West Edinboro University and received so many scholarships, with the help of his Scoutmasters and other program affiliates, that had no out-of-pocket cost for all 4 years of college.  He has a full ride!!

So I can’t thank his scout leaders enough, Cameron, Tyrelle, and Greg, have done an amazing job with our boys and I can’t wait to see what’s next.” -Tierra Reid, Eagle Scout Parent T710

Partnering Organizations

When it comes to our partners, they make Scouting in all communities possible.

“For many of the students that participate, I see growth in them. They are being more thoughtful, and conscious of their own actions. Their attendance remains strong, and they are all excelling in their academics”.  -Shanekka Mason, School Counselor Pittsburgh Arsenal Pre K-5

Going to Jamboree was one of the most fun and engaging experiences I’ve had. From meeting people from all over the country, to patch trading with people along trails, getting to cooking meals with my troop members, and many more great experiences. For anyone considering if they would like to, I would highly recommend they do. There’s so much to do and so many things to see that you might not get a chance to do again.
