Scouting Every Day in Some Way
Scouting 365 Breakfast
Pittsburgh, PA: Scouting America, Laurel Highlands Council recently announced a brand-new event to share the impact of Scouting on today’s youth: Scouting 365 Breakfast. The breakfast will host a variety of Scouts and volunteers who will share their experiences in the program and how Scouting has positively impacted their lives. Here in the Laurel Highlands Council, we are “Scouting Every Day in Some Way,” and we are inviting you to do the same.
“It is simply not possible to attend a Scouting event and not feel better about the generation coming up behind us. These young people are smart, compassionate, polite, civic minded leaders” says Alan Scher, Regional Manager at Ford Motor Company. “If more people incorporated the Scout Law into their daily lives, the world would be a much better place.”
Join us for the FREE Scouting 365 Breakfast on Friday, April 14th at 8 AM at the Rivers Club in Downtown Pittsburgh to hear from our special guest Alan Scher of Ford Motor Company who’s ties to Scouting are more than campfires and great days of canoeing. Plus, we’re thrilled to share that we’ll be joined by Rick Dayton, KDKA News Radio Host and Mike Surbaugh, BSA National Council (Retired) Chief Scout Executive. All have ties to Scouting, whether it be their children earning the Eagle Scout Award, volunteering, being a youth member, or many roles in between.
Learn more about how today’s youth are positively benefiting from the Scouting program and how you can incorporate being “trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent” into your daily life.

Over the past year, the Laurel Highlands Council has seen a 3.69% increase in youth membership. This increase means more boys and girls are able to be outside and learn how to properly start a fire, safely shoot a gun, or skillfully administer first aid. Our Scouts are exploring their untapped interests, being creative, and making new friends, plus so much more.
