COUNCIL STATEMENT ON THE BSA-LDS RELATIONSHIP

May 9, 2018

PITTSBURGH, PA – The Laurel Highlands Council is thankful for the 105-year partnership that our parent organization – The Boy Scouts of America – has enjoyed with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout the years, our council has been privileged to serve thousands of Scouts and adult volunteers who are members of the LDS Church. We have been blessed to share in their passion and enthusiasm for the Scouting program and its core mission of service to others.

We will continue to devote our efforts toward supporting our LDS Scouts and adult volunteers with a vibrant, strong Scouting program during the remaining 20 months of the partnership – and beyond for all youth who wish to be Scouts. We also will continue to work with our many other community partners and organizations to provide our character-building and lifetime learning Scouting programs for families throughout Southwest Pennsylvania, Western Maryland, and portions of West Virginia.
